The Social Insurance Organisation (SIO) has developed its death insurance benefit service as part of government efforts to improve service quality and streamline procedures, making it easier for eligible beneficiaries to complete transactions and receive their entitlements.
The upgraded service is now processed automatically, compared with the previous processing time of eight working days. The improvements include a 50% reduction in required documents, a reduction of at least 25% in the service-level agreement, a decrease in application steps from five to three, and a 25% reduction in the required approvals. The service is now fully electronic, with online application forms, a simplified user interface and fewer pages required to access the service. Service information has also been standardised across all channels.
Sahar Rashid Al Mannai, Chief Executive Officer of the SIO, said the development takes into account the circumstances of bereaved families by providing simpler, more flexible procedures to help them obtain death-related insurance benefits without visiting the relevant authorities or submitting paper documents.
She added that the service forms part of an integrated range of digital insurance services related to deaths, supported by improved data integration and streamlined procedures. The SIO continues to automate its services and strengthen electronic integration with relevant entities to accelerate transactions, improve efficiency and facilitate access to insurance benefits.
As part of ongoing government efforts to improve and re-engineer public services, more than 1,300 government services have been documented, translated and published, with 800 undergoing development and re-engineering across various sectors. These efforts draw on feedback submitted through the National Suggestions and Complaints System (Tawasul), investors’ comments and mystery shopper reports, alongside the introduction of service guides and service-level agreements to improve efficiency, service quality and the user experience and advance digital transformation.
