Education Minister meets parents of first Middle Years International Baccalaureate cohort

Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education, met with the parents of the first cohort of students enrolled in the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP), comprising 400 students, at the Ministry of Education hall in Isa Town.

Dr. Juma congratulated parents on their children’s achievement in securing places in the International Baccalaureate programme, following a competitive selection process involving more than 3,000 students. He reviewed key developments in the education sector and presented an overview of the International Baccalaureate programme and the work carried out leading up to the announcement of the first cohort of accepted students.

The Education Minister outlined the programme’s main features and emphasised the importance of supporting students as they begin their studies and progress through the programme. He noted that the International Baccalaureate pathway differs from the standard curriculum in terms of content and teaching methods, making it an advanced educational track with future academic benefits.

At the end of the meeting, parents received the new textbooks and curriculum materials for the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme, along with information packs containing key details about the programme and the academic journey ahead for accepted students.
