09/02/2026 SCE, Social Development Ministry organise workshop on household waste management The Supreme Council for Environment (SCE) and the Ministry of Social Development organised a workshop for social centres as part of joint efforts to raise environmental awareness and promote proper waste management practices throughout the community. Amna Hamad Al Rumaihi, Chief Executive of the SCE, said that organising the workshop reflects the Council’s commitment to empowering families and the community to adopt positive environmental behaviours and enhance the role of individuals in reducing practices that negatively affect the environment, particularly in household waste management. She highlighted the importance of reaching all segments of society to instil a culture of environmental sustainability and raise awareness of the need to protect the environment from within homes. The workshop included awareness sessions on household waste management and smart substitution methods, a review of the Bahraini Zero Waste Initiative, and discussions on the concept of conserving resources as a civic responsibility. It also addressed the role of home-prepared foods and individual responsibility in protecting the environment from pollutants.
