The Kingdom of Bahrain was unanimously selected to host the Arab Medical Union's general medical conference and meetings of its General Secretariat and Supreme Council in 2027.
Dr. Amer Ibrahim Al Derazi, President of the Bahrain Medical Society, was also reappointed Deputy Secretary General of the union during its extraordinary meetings held in Cairo on October 2 and 3.
The Bahraini delegation included Dr. Al Derazi and Dr. Maram Isa Al Sharbiti, Secretary of the Bahrain Medical Society.
The union's Supreme Council adopted decisions to reactivate its committees and specialised medical associations, expand medical training and cooperation, and support healthcare sectors in areas affected by crises, including Gaza, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen.
Dr. Al Sharbiti said the society would coordinate with the union and relevant authorities to develop a proposed programme for the 2027 conference, covering medical education, digital health, artificial intelligence, patient safety, disaster preparedness, and medical research.
