HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister inaugurates the Electricity and Water Control Center

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, theCrown Prince and Prime Minister, today inaugurated the Electricity and WaterControl Center.

 

The inauguration coincided with the Kingdom of Bahrain’sNational Days and the Silver Jubilee commemorating the 25th anniversary of HisMajesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s Accession to the Throne.

 

HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister commended theefforts made to accomplish Bahrain's development goals across various fields,enhancing the Kingdom’s competitiveness and bolstering its national economy.

 

His Royal Highness affirmed that Team Bahrain consistentlyfulfils the Kingdom’s aspirations with great ambition, determination,excellence, and creativity.  HRH added that their determination haselevated the Kingdom's standing across various sectors, driving itscomprehensive development, led by His Majesty the King.

 

HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad highlighted that the launch ofthe Electricity and Water Control Center marks a strategic step in enhancingthe efficiency of the Kingdom’s infrastructure and increasing the capacity tosupport future developments.

 

HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister noted the importanceof investing in electricity and water infrastructure for achieving sustainableeconomic growth, innovation, and economic diversification in the Kingdom ofBahrain.

 

His Royal Highness toured the new Center and was briefed onits capabilities by the President of the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA),HE Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed.  The Center’s capabilities will enhance thecapacity, quality, efficiency, and reliability of Bahrain's electricity andwater distribution networks.  The Center will also reduce maintenancecosts and improve flexibility in monitoring and managing electricity and waternetworks.

 

HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad also highlighted the importanceof technology-driven projects in achieving the highest levels of operationalefficiency.

 

His Royal Highness further noted that infrastructureprojects serve as foundations for broader developmental projects, attractinginvestments, advancing economic diversification, and strengtheningpublic-private partnerships.

 

HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister commended the EWAfor its dedication to implementing national strategies aligned with theKingdom's far-reaching economic objectives.

 

For his part, the President of the EWA, HE Kamal bin AhmedMohammed, expressed his gratitude and appreciation to His Royal Highness theCrown Prince and Prime Minister for inaugurating the Electricity and WaterControl Center and for his unwavering support of EWA projects, whichcontributes to achieving the goals of the Kingdom’s comprehensive developmentunder the leadership of His Majesty the King.

 

HE Mohammed noted that the four advanced monitoring andcontrol stations in the Control Center align with EWA strategic plans toenhance infrastructure development according to the highest internationalstandards.

 

HE Mohammed also noted that the Center is equipped with"Private LTE" technology, making the Kingdom of Bahrain the firstcountry in the Middle East to adopt this innovation. This advancementstrengthens the main electricity and water networks and addresses the growingdemand for these services across Bahrain.

 

The Center is an important step towards the Kingdom’stransformation into a smart network. Its main objective is to control andmonitor all electricity and water networks in the Kingdom using advancedcontrol systems and innovative technologies.

 

The Electricity and Water Control Center manages theelectricity transmission network, which includes 258 main transmission stationsand a 1,906-kilometer ground cable network.  It also monitors and managesthe electricity distribution networks, including 10,400 substations, along withwater desalination plants and water transmission and distribution networks.These networks consist of 46 water transmission and distribution stations and apipeline network of 618 kilometers.

 

Additionally, solar panels have been installed around thebuilding and its parking areas to generate clean energy, meeting approximately50% of the Center’s electrical needs.

 

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Isa bin Salman EducationCharitable Trust and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Labour Fund(Tamkeen), His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the DeputyPrime Minister, HE Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, the Minister ofInterior, HE General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, the Minister ofFinance and National Economy, HE Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, andseveral senior officials also attended the inauguration.
