The Ministry of Sustainable Development chaired the 17th Meeting of the Arab Committee for Monitoring the Implementation of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, in line with the Kingdom of Bahrain’s presidency of the 115th session of the Economic and Social Council of the League of Arab States.

The meeting, held virtually, was chaired by Dana Imad Hamzah, Assistant Undersecretary for Sustainable Development at the Ministry, and attended by senior representatives from Arab member states and national institutions.

In her remarks, the Assistant Undersecretary highlighted Bahrain’s commitment to advancing the sustainable development agenda under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the guidance of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

She noted that Bahrain’s efforts have been guided by the principles of Economic Vision 2030, which are sustainability, competitiveness and fairness. These efforts have been supported by national programmes, legislative reform, strategic partnerships and improved data infrastructure.

She also underlined Bahrain’s focus on key enablers of sustainable development, including the adoption of advanced digital technologies, financial inclusion, investment in human capital and digital transformation. These factors all contribute to accelerating progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Hamzah concluded that the meeting presents an important opportunity to enhance regional cooperation on sustainable development, particularly following Bahrain’s leadership of the 33rd Arab League Summit. She said the summit’s outcomes reflect Bahrain’s influential diplomatic, political and economic role in strengthening joint Arab action.
