Interior Minister receives WHO certification

General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister ofInterior, received Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, Governor of theCapital Governorate.

Dr. Jaleela bint Al Sayed Jawad Hassan, Minister of Health, was present.

Gen. Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah received the World Health Organisation (WHO) certificationrecognising the Capital Governorate as a "Healthy Governorate,"making it the first governorate in the Eastern Mediterranean Region to receivethis designation.

The minister congratulated the Capital Governorate on this nationalachievement, emphasising that the implementation of the Healthy Cities Projectacross the governorate's contributes to advancing sustainable developmentgoals, in line with the comprehensive development process led by His MajestyKing Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, supported by the government, under theleadership of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the CrownPrince and Prime Minister.

Gen. Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah highlighted the importance of this achievementin improving the quality of life and fostering community partnerships toachieve public health goals.

The minister commended the role of the Ministry of Health in achieving thisinternational certification for the Capital Governorate as a "HealthyGovernorate."

He commended the development initiatives and projects launched by thegovernorate, implemented in collaboration with relevant entities to enhancecommunication with citizens and meet their needs, while integrating moderntechnologies to ensure the safety and security of residents.

The Healthy Cities Programme was initiated by the Capital Governorate in 2017,with Umm Al Hassam declared a Healthy City in 2018, followed by Manama in 2021,making it the first Healthy Capital in the Eastern Mediterranean Region. Theprogramme was later expanded to all villages and cities in the governorate,earning it recognition as the region's first Healthy Governorate.

The minister thanked the Capital Governor and all personnel involved for theirefforts in achieving this milestone, wishing them continued success in servingthe Kingdom.
