RMS achieves 100 surgeries with Hugo RAS System

Brigadier General Dr. Shaikh Fahad bin Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Commander of the Royal Medical Services (RMS), emphasised that the Hugo RAS system marks a significant advancement in surgical care provided by the RMS. He highlighted that it reinforces the RMS's position as a leader in adopting modern medical technologies.

This achievement coincides with the RMS's announcement of successfully performing 100 surgical operations using the Hugo RAS robotic system. This milestone underscores the RMS's commitment to continuous development and the proficiency of its medical and technical teams, which has led to quicker patient recovery and excellent surgical outcomes.

The Hugo RAS system, a prominent innovation in robotic surgery, offers high levels of precision, flexibility, and control compared to traditional methods. It features a 3D camera and four robotic arms with precise surgical instruments, enabling surgeons to operate remotely with a high-definition console and screen. This system enhances surgical outcomes by providing clear patient views and reducing infection risks.

Operations performed with the Hugo RAS system spanned urology, general surgery, and gynaecology, including radical and partial nephrectomies, radical prostatectomies, ureteroplasties, hernia repairs, colon surgeries, TATME procedures, ovarian cyst removals, hysterectomies, and fibroid excisions. All these robot-assisted procedures yielded excellent results with minimal complications, significantly accelerating patient recovery and reducing hospital stays.

The RMS is the first medical institution in the Middle East to achieve 100 operations using the Hugo RAS surgical system, attributing this success to its expert medical, nursing, and technical teams. This accomplishment is part of an integrated healthcare system focused on continuous improvement and elevating patient care through cutting-edge medical technology.
