University of Bahrain enters Times Higher Education World University Rankings for the first time

The University of Bahrain has (UoB) achieved a milestone by being included in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings for the first time since its establishment in 1986, marking its entry among the world’s leading universities. With this accomplishment, the University of Bahrain becomes the first national and local university to be listed in the prestigious Times global ranking.

Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University of Bahrain, expressed his d appreciation to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and to His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for their unwavering support to the Kingdom’s educational journey and their continuous patronage, which enabled UoB to attain a position in this internationally recognised classification conducted by one of the world’s leading higher education evaluation institutions, Times Higher Education.

The Minister of Education underscored that the University’s Board of Trustees developed comprehensive plans, policies, and executive measures, both academically and scientifically, to achieve this initial goal of entering the global ranking. He added that the next phase aims to advance the University’s position within the ranking gradually and strategically to reach even higher levels in the future.

Dr. Juma expressed his appreciation to the University’s academic and administrative staff for their dedicated efforts, as well as to the General Secretariat of the Higher Education Council for its diligent follow-up that contributed to realising this achievement.

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings is one of the most prominent global university ranking systems. It is widely used to assess the quality of academic institutions worldwide, offering a comprehensive evaluation of universities’ performance across various academic and research fields.

The ranking serves as a benchmark for institutions to improve their performance, identify strengths and weaknesses, and is also used by governments and funding bodies as a key reference in supporting higher education.
