DPM inaugurates water and electricity stations in Hidd City

Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister,inaugurated a 220 kV electricity transmission station and a water distributionstation in the Al Hidd Housing Project.

 

The inaugration was attended by Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam,Speaker of the Council of Representatives, along with ministers and officials,and representatives from the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), led by Sultanbin Abdulrahman Al Marshad, CEO of the fund.

 

The Deputy Prime Minister said the ongoing development of electricityand water networks was part of the efforts, within the framework of thecomprehensive development process, to enhance infrastructure and support urbanexpansion to meet the increasing demand for these essential services.

 

The total cost of the electricity and water projects is $85million.

 

The newly opened 220 kV electricity station, with a capacity of360 MVA, is expected to serve nearly 40,000 users in Hidd and surrounding areasby transmitting power from the main electricity grid to the local 66 kVsubstations.

 

The water distribution station, equipped with advanced monitoring,measurement, and control systems, has a storage capacity of 2.34 milliongallons and variable-speed pumps. The station aims to provide a reliable watersupply to residents of the Hidd Housing Project.

Shaikh Khalid emphasised the government's dedication to ensuringthe readiness of infrastructure in housing projects. He praised the efforts ofthe Electricity and Water Authority (EWA), led by Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, to deliverhigh-quality services. He also acknowledged the SFD's contributions toBahrain’s infrastructure projects under the Gulf Development Programme.

 

The President of EWA thanked the Deputy Prime Minister forinaugurating the stations in Hidd and commended his role in implementing keyprojects through the Ministerial Committee for Development Projects andInfrastructure. He highlighted the authority’s commitment to contunuallyupgrading electricity and water networks to meet current and future demand.

 

On his part, Sultan bin Abdulrahman Al Marshad, CEO of the SFD,highlighting the longstanding partnership between the fund and Bahrain since1976. He affirmed the fund's ongoing support for development projects aimed atachieving sustainable growth in Bahrain.
