Under patronage of HM King, RMS Field Hospital inaugurated, strategic warehouse opened

Under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, the inauguration ceremony of the Royal Medical Services Field Hospital and the opening of the Royal Medical Services Strategic Warehouse was held today. His Majesty deputised Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF), who assigned Lieutenant General Abdullah bin Hassan Al Nuaimi, Minister of Defence Affairs, to attend the inauguration ceremony, which took place at the Mohammed Bin Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa Specialist Cardiac Centre.

The ceremony was attended by Lieutenant General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, President of the Supreme Council of Health (SCH), and Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Adviser for Financial and Technical Affairs at the General Command of the BDF. The event coincided with the celebration of the 58th anniversary of the establishment of the BDF.

Major General Dr. Shaikh Fahad bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Commander of the Royal Medical Services (RMS), delivered a speech in which he thanked His Majesty the King, and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Prime Minister, and the Commander-in-Chief. He highlighted the support extended to the RMS to develop the health and military medical system, including the opening of the RMS Strategic Warehouse and the inauguration of the field hospital.

Major General Dr. Shaikh Fahad bin Khalifa noted that the field hospital represents an advanced model of medical care in emergency locations. He explained that it was designed to include mobile and expandable units equipped with the latest medical equipment and technologies, including examination and triage units, operating theatres, intensive care units, radiology and laboratory facilities, sterilisation equipment, oxygen units, and all requirements needed to provide integrated healthcare swiftly and efficiently.

Major General Dr. Shaikh Fahad bin Khalifa added that the strategic warehouse is a unique project combining extensive space with high storage capacity. It enables the storage and management of medical and pharmaceutical supplies with the highest levels of efficiency and quality, with precise control of temperature and humidity. The facility includes diversified storage areas to ensure rapid access, guaranteeing the sustainability of medical supplies under all circumstances and reflecting the high level of organisation and discipline that characterises the BDF.

Lt. Gen. Al Nuaimi toured the field hospital, where he reviewed the patient triage units, sterilisation unit, laboratory, intensive care unit, patient wards, X-ray department and other logistical facilities. The minister was briefed on the therapeutic stages and the healthcare and medical services provided to patients, the wounded and the injured. The commemorative plaque marking the opening of the RMS Strategic Warehouse was unveiled, followed by an inspection tour of the strategic warehouse and its modern and advanced equipment conducted by the minister.

Lt. Gen. Al Nuaimi commended the efforts of the RMS Field Hospital and the RMS Strategic Warehouse, noting that they will contribute to raising the level of therapeutic services within the medical systems of the BDF.

Lt. Gen. Al Nuaimi also commended the continuous efforts of the RMS to provide advanced healthcare through modern facilities equipped with advanced medical equipment and qualified across various medical specialisations. He emphasised that the RMS remain committed to continuously enhancing therapeutic and diagnostic services and developing all medical services using the most advanced modern medical technologies in healthcare and treatment.
