The Supreme Council forEnvironment (SCE) has launched an electronic service on requests to trade(import, export and re-export) in endangered species that are listed under theConvention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora(CITES) services, SCE’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Mohammed Mubarak binDaina, has announced.https://www.sce.gov.bh/),choose “Our Services” and then the “Trade in Endangered Species” option. Theythen have to fill in the application form, and attach the required documents.
The kingdom ratified the CITESConvention in 2012, and is keen to put in place the necessary guarantees toensure the protection and sustainability of endangered species.
The convention stipulates that“the Contracting States [recognise] that wild fauna and flora intheir many beautiful and varied forms are an irreplaceable part of the naturalsystems of the earth which must be protected for this and the generations tocome.”
