01/10/2026

The Labour Market Regulatory Authority won two awards at the Global CIO 200 Grand Finale 2026 for IT leaders, held in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Talal Ali Al Amer, Director of the Authority’s Information Technology Department, and Othman Adel Al Abbasi, Head of the Infrastructure and Applications Management Section, were recognised for the Smart Inspection System and the Service Agreement Platform.

The recognition was among 200 IT leaders from around the world, in recognition of their professional contributions to technology, digital transformation and innovation.

The Smart Inspection Project is one of the Authority’s key projects. The AI-powered system assists the Authority’s inspectors in preparing inspection reports electronically during field visits, helping improve the quality and reliability of reports, eliminate traditional paper-based procedures, increase the efficiency of inspection operations, and speed up procedures for recording observations and violations.

It also provides instant voice and text translation in various languages, facilitating communication with workers of different nationalities. It standardises the procedures for preparing and documenting reports electronically and enhances transparency through accurate tracking of procedures and the accuracy of final outputs.

The Service Agreement Platform is one of the projects aimed at electronically documenting agreements between workers and beneficiaries. The platform helps develop mechanisms for documenting dealings between parties to the employment relationship and moving them to a more organised and transparent digital environment. This enhances the reliability of procedures, supports the Authority’s efforts to use technology to develop its services, and promotes practices that protect the rights of the parties to the employment relationship.

The recognition reflects the expertise of national professionals in information technology and digital transformation, as well as the Authority’s commitment to using modern technologies and innovation to develop its operations and services, improve institutional performance, and keep pace with international best practices.

The Global CIO 200 Grand Finale 2026 is an international platform that brings together IT leaders, decision-makers and specialists in the technology sector to exchange expertise and knowledge and showcase the latest practices and trends in technology, innovation and digital transformation.
