19/01/2026
Under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Consort of His Majesty the King and President of the Consultative Council of the National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD), the sixth edition of the King Hamad Award for Agricultural Development was announced.

The award aims to enhance innovation for the sustainability of agricultural production and support agricultural projects, farmers, and researchers, in line with the Bahrain Economic Vision 2030. It also serves as a competitive platform to showcase outstanding agricultural projects, distinguished farmers, and the latest studies and research in the agricultural field. It contributes to achieving food security, preserving natural resources, and supporting the green economy in the Kingdom.

The sixth edition includes three main categories: Best Agricultural Project, which honours innovative projects in agricultural production, services, technologies, and agribusiness; Best Bahraini Farmer, which highlights the efforts of outstanding farmers; and Best Agricultural Studies and Research, which supports scientific innovation in smart agriculture, conservation of natural resources, and the enhancement of food and water security.

Winners will receive cash prizes of up to BD 10,000, a commemorative shield, and certificates of appreciation. They will also be entitled to use the award’s logo in promotional and marketing materials, in addition to highlighting their projects and research through media outlets and digital platforms.

Those interested may apply through NIAD's website at www.niadbh.com, in accordance with the conditions specified for each category.

The application period for the Best Agricultural Project category runs from January to May.

Applications for the Best Bahraini Farmer category will be accepted during January only, while applications for the Best Agricultural Studies and Research category will remain open from January to December.
