Housing Minister: Over BHD 630 million in housing financing disbursed as citizens embrace new funding options
26/10/2025
Amna bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, affirmed that a total of 2,322 new applications were approved to benefit from the various options under the Housing Finance Programme by the third quarter of 2025, with a total financing value of BHD 149.679 million.

She noted that since the programme’s launch in 2022, more than 18,000 applications have been received, of which 10,504 have been approved, with disbursed financing reaching BHD 630.139 million as of the third quarter of 2025. She highlighted that 81% of financing applications were transferred from traditional housing services to the programme’s instant financing options.

Minister Al Rumaihi said that the Tas'heel Aqari (Real Estate Facilitation) financing option remains the most popular among beneficiaries, with over 10,000 applications received under this category.

She further explained that the Tas’heel + option, launched in April 2025, has also seen strong demand, with more than 600 applications submitted so far. The programme’s features include increased financing ceilings of BHD 81,000 and BHD 91,000 under two repayment plan options, in addition to a fixed monthly installment that is not subject to periodic adjustment, encouraging citizens to take confident steps toward purchasing suitable homes.

The Minister commended the cooperation of commercial banks and real estate developers in supporting the Housing Finance Programme, contributing to the rising demand for these financing options. She noted that the process has become faster and easier thanks to the Bayti real estate platform, which provides citizens with an integrated experience, from virtual property tours to booking, down payment, and financing completion, all under one digital system.

Minister Al Rumaihi also highlighted the role of Government Land Development Rights Projects in increasing interest in housing finance programmes, through successful partnerships such as the Suhail Housing Project in Al Lawzi, Al Naseem District in Salman City, Al Wadi project in Al Buhair, and Hoora Sanad project in the Southern Governorate, in addition to the project providing over 3,000 housing units in Khalifa City and other residential projects implemented by the Housing Bank.

She emphasised that the number of applicants and beneficiaries of the financing services is expected to increase further during the fourth quarter of 2025, driven by growing citizen demand for instant financing options and the expansion of public–private partnerships to provide housing units that are both affordable and tailored to the needs of Bahraini citizens with housing applications.
