The Nasser Centre for Science and Technology (NCST)’s advanced engineering and information technology tracks have been recognised as equivalent to the science and mathematics track of the secondary school certificate. This follows cooperation with the Ministry of Education to align curricula.
The recognition follows ongoing work to align the educational competencies of the Centre’s advanced tracks with the scientific competencies set out in the Ministry’s curriculum framework. It strengthens the integration of education and training in specialised fields and supports students’ transition to higher education with scientific knowledge and practical skills relevant to key sectors.
The equivalency covers advanced engineering tracks in robotics and automation, mechanics, and electrical engineering and electronics, as well as information technology specialisations in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and cloud computing.
Approval followed technical reviews and joint coordination between specialists at the Ministry and the NCST. These covered curricula, study plans, learning outcomes, assessment and practical application, ensuring that the Centre’s programmes closely align with academic, scientific and technical requirements.
Dr. Abdulla Naser Al Noaimi, Chief Executive Officer of the NCST, said the equivalency reflected the Centre’s vision of providing access to university-level scientific education while retaining the benefits of advanced technical specialisation. It also supports educational tracks that combine strong scientific knowledge with the ability to apply it.
He said including advanced engineering and information technology tracks in the science and mathematics track strengthened the Centre’s efforts to offer educational options that respond to industrial and technological changes. It also gives students a broader foundation for their academic and professional futures, in line with the Centre’s strategic vision of preparing Bahraini talent to contribute to the development of Bahrain’s industry and its global competitiveness.
Dr. Al Noaimi thanked the Ministry of Education for its cooperation and support, and commended the joint team’s work to review and align the programmes, ensuring that equivalency requirements were met and educational quality maintained.
He said the achievement was a strategic step towards developing an integrated education system linking school education with university specialisations and future careers. He added that the NCST would continue to develop its programmes in line with approved frameworks and national priorities, enabling students to apply their scientific and technical skills to development and supporting education, development and youth empowerment goals under Bahrain Economic Vision 2030.
