NIHR launches child rights training programme
02/07/2025
The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), in cooperation with FranklinCovey Education – Middle East, the "Smile" Initiative, and the Al-Kooheji Charity Foundation, launched a training programme to promote and protect the rights of children.

As part of the influential Child Rights Leaders programme, launched under the slogan "You Have the Right", and is conducted within the framework of a memorandum of understanding with FranklinCovey Education – Middle East and forms an integral part of the Child Rights Commissioner’s 2024 – 2025 strategy.

This programme is the first of its kind in the Gulf region and targets Bahraini youth aged 12 to 18, especially Friends of the Child Rights Commissioner, aiming to empower them to defend their peers’ rights, represent childhood-related challenges, and contribute to shaping policies in their best interests, in line with Bahrain’s Vision 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals.

The programme is based on the "Seven Habits" principles developed by FranklinCovey, a global framework for character and collective leadership building. It develops participants’ leadership, communication, and teamwork skills and enhances their ability to make a lasting impact on their community.

This cooperation between the institution and private, educational, and charitable entities highlights the importance of community partnership in safeguarding child rights and nurturing a generation aware of its rights and duties, capable of representing its voice in institutional and societal forums.
