The national project "Lamea" received the Community Excellence Award in recognition of its achievements in empowering and developing Bahraini youth, encouraging their participation in voluntary and community work, and preparing young people to contribute to national development.
The award was presented to the project on the sidelines of the Second Arab Youth Leaders Forum, held in Cairo under the patronage of the League of Arab States, with wide participation from Arab youth leaders and figures.
Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfeeqi, Minister of Youth Affairs, highlighted the award as recognition of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s achievements in empowering and developing Bahraini youth under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Minister Tawfeeqi attributed the achievement to the support provided by His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty’s Representative for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports. She noted that his vision, plans and programmes aim to equip youth with the skills and capabilities needed to contribute to national development.
She emphasised that the achievement reflects the vision behind the "Lamea" project, which focuses on investing in youth, developing their skills and preparing them for leadership roles in different domains.
Minister Tawfeeqi also highlighted the efforts of the "Lamea" Authority to develop an integrated system for empowering youth, developing their skills and supporting their potential. She added that the award will encourage the further development of "Lamea" programmes, provide young people with more opportunities to learn, gain experience and take initiative, and strengthen their contribution to national development.
For her part, Shaikha Dwa bint Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairperson of the Lamea Association, commended the project’s achievement and emphasised that it reflects the continued support of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad for empowering Bahraini youth, developing their capabilities and preparing them for leadership roles.
She noted that "Lamea" has developed from a training programme into an integrated system for developing young leaders. It identifies young talent, develops their skills and gives them opportunities to gain experience, take initiative and make an impact.
Shaikha Dwa bint Khalid highlighted that the project’s main achievement is its graduates, who have gained knowledge, experience and the ability to take initiative and responsibility. She added that the "Lamea" Association will continue to develop programmes that meet the needs of youth and give them more opportunities to learn, gain experience and contribute to national development.
