Mara'ee 2024 boosts local agricultural, livestock production

Farmers and breeders commended the success of the BahrainAnimal Production Show (Mara'ee) in promoting agricultural and livestockdevelopment in Bahrain. Since its launch under the patronage of His MajestyKing Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the exhibition has reflected strong governmentalsupport, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, theCrown Prince and Prime Minister, for advancing national agriculturalproduction.  

 

Participants highlighted Mara'ee as a valuable platform forboosting local agricultural and livestock production, facilitating the exchangeof expertise, showcasing innovative technologies, and providing investment andmarketing opportunities.

 

Shaikh Rashid bin Khalifa bin Ali Al Khalifa, GeneralManager of Peninsula Farms, praised the royal patronage of the seventh editionof Mara'ee 2024. He acknowledged ongoing governmental support for agriculturaland livestock sectors and commended the efforts of the National Initiative forAgricultural Development (NIAD), chaired by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeekabint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Consort of His Majesty the King, for advancingdevelopment projects in the sector.

 

Shaikh Rashid bin Khalifa noted that Peninsula Farms aims tocontribute to national food security by adopting innovative techniques.Starting in 2012 with hydroponic cultivation of lettuce and tomatoes, theproject expanded to traditional farming and livestock production, includinggoat and sheep meat, with a focus on sustainability and market growth. 

 

He described Mara'ee as one of the largest exhibitionssupporting food security, encouraging investment, and diversifying resources tobenefit the national economy. He expressed optimism for enhanced collaborationwith Bahraini farmers to strengthen local production.

 

Farmer Aqeel Mahdi Al Ajmi underscored the exhibition's roleas a platform for showcasing diverse agricultural products and innovations,contributing to local production and reducing reliance on imports. Heemphasised the importance of modern farming techniques in overcoming challengesand ensuring sustainable agricultural growth.

 

Farmer Jaafar Mohammed Hassan highlighted Mara'ee’ssignificance in introducing advanced farming methods and fostering regionalcooperation. He emphasised the need for Bahraini farmers to stay updated onmodern techniques to enhance production and ensure sustainable food security.

 

Mara'ee 2024 continues to serve as a key event for promotinginnovation, investment, and collaboration in Bahrain’s agricultural andlivestock sectors.
