New York, July 14 (BNA): A high-level Bahraini delegation isin New York City to participate in the United Nations High Level Political Forumon Sustainable Development and present the Kingdom’s second Voluntary NationalReview (VNR) on the progress made towards achieving the Sustainable DevelopmentGoals (SDGs).

The 2023Forum is held under the theme "Accelerating the Recovery from the CoronavirusDisease (COVID-19) and the Full Implementation of the 2030 Agenda forSustainable Development at all levels", and will take place from 10-19 ofJuly at the UN Headquarters in New York. 

Thedelegation includes Housing and Urban Planning Minister Amna bint Ahmed AlRomaihi, Sustainable Development Minister Noor bint Ali Alkhulaif,Undersecretary for Political Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr.Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Chief Executive of ElectronicTransformation at the Information and E-Government Authority Dr. Zakareya AhmedAl Khaja Deputy, in addition to a number of officials.

Bahrain'ssecond VNR showcases the Kingdom's progress in implementing the 2030 Agendasince the preparation of the first VNR in 2018, reflecting the steps taken inaligning the Government Plan and other strategic initiatives and programs tothe SDGs. 

The 2023Forum focuses on five of the 17 SDGs; these are SDG 6 on Clean Water andSanitation, SDG 7 on Clean and Affordable Energy, SDG 9 on Industry,Innovation, and Infrastructure, SDG 11 related to Sustainable Cities andCommunities, and SDG 17 on Partnerships to achieve the Goals.
