Manama, Feb. 4 (BNA): Under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, the paediatric haematology and oncology unit at the Royal Medical Services – Bahrain Oncology Centre was officially inaugurated.

The inauguration was attended by Lieutenant General Dr. Shaikh Mohamed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Health (SCH); Lieutenant General Abdullah bin Hassan Al Nuaimi, Minister of Defence Affairs; Dr. Jalila bint Al Sayyed Jawad Hassan, Minister of Health; and Brigadier General Dr. Shaikh Fahad bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Commander of the Royal Medical Services.

HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad toured the unit, reviewing the advanced medical equipment and specialised services provided for paediatric haematology and oncology patients.

HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad emphasised that the opening of the unit reflects the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the commitment of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to developing the healthcare system and enhancing the quality of services for citizens and residents.

HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad said that this marks an important step in Bahrain’s medical achievements, expressing hope that the unit will provide the highest standards of treatment and care for children and serve as a model for excellence in healthcare services. He commended the dedication of medical and administrative staff in delivering comprehensive care for paediatric haematology and oncology patients.

HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad highlighted Bahrain’s commitment to further developing medical services and ensuring access to the latest treatment methods to alleviate the suffering of young patients. He noted that advancing the healthcare sector remains a national priority, supported by the Kingdom’s leadership. He also commended the efforts of the Royal Medical Services – Bahrain Oncology Centre in continuously enhancing healthcare services and ensuring the best care for paediatric and general patients.
