HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa visits Dohat Arad Park to view planted mangroves

Manama, Mar. 10 (BNA): His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa today visited Dohat Arad Park. His Highness viewed the plantation of over 400,000 mangrove seedlings in the park, doubling the total number of mangrove trees in Bahrain prior to the Kingdom’s afforestation plan. This effort is part of the Kingdom’s aim to quadruple mangroves by 2035, aligning with Bahrain’s commitments to combat climate change.

HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain continues to adopt initiatives that enhance environmental security and combat climate change as part of the Kingdom’s comprehensive development plan, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

His Highness commended the outcomes of implementing the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, regarding the expansion of afforestation efforts across Bahraini governorates in fulfilment of the Kingdom’s commitment to reach carbon neutrality by 2060.

HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman noted the importance of the efforts undertaken by the Supreme Council for Environment and its President, the Personal Representative of His Majesty the King, His Highness Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, along with the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, and all concerned parties, in fulfilling Bahrain’s environmental commitments.

His Highness wished everyone continued success in achieving the Kingdom's wide-ranging environmental goals.

HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman toured Dohat Arad Park and was briefed on recent advancements in mangrove cultivation within the park.

On this occasion, the Minister of Oil and Environment and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, Dr Mohamed bin Mubarak Bin Daina, confirmed that the Supreme Council for Environment has launched many programmes and initiatives aimed at enhancing biodiversity and protecting the environment to achieve climate security.

HE Dr Bin Daina noted that the initiatives will support the Kingdom’s comprehensive development goals, led by His Majesty the King and supported by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

HE Dr Bin Daina expressed his thanks for His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman’s visit to the Park and ongoing support for efforts to increase mangrove trees in Bahrain.

HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman was accompanied by the Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, HE Eng Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, the Minister of Oil and Environment and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, HE Dr Mohamed bin Mubarak Bin Daina, the Minister of Cabinet Affairs, HE Hamad bin Faisal Al Malki, and several senior officials.
