The Royal Medical Services (RMS) organised "Research Day 2025" at the Crown Prince Centre for Training and Medical Research. The event served as a platform to showcase the latest medical research and discuss key scientific innovations across various domains, with the participation of doctors and researchers from affiliated hospitals and centres.

Lieutenant General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health (SCH), inaugurated the event and was attended by Dr. Jaleela bint Al Sayed Jawad Hasan, Minister of Health, and Brigadier General Dr. Shaikh Fahad bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Commander of the RMS.

Lt. Gen. Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah expressed pride in the Services’ achievements in scientific research, emphasising that support for research and innovation is key to developing the health system and improving care quality, in line with the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. He underlined the importance of empowering national talents and encouraging their continued contribution to scientific advancement.

The Health Minister said that holding Research Day reflects integration among national health institutions and continued commitment to advancing medical research and innovation as essential for enhancing the health sector’s readiness and sustainability. She noted that investing in research is an investment in the future of healthcare, improving service quality and treatment outcomes, supporting evidence-based decision-making, and guiding policy development through rigorous scientific methods.

She also commended the Crown Prince Centre for Training and Medical Research for its role in supporting researchers and enabling national talent to develop their scientific and research capabilities by providing an environment that fosters innovation and applied research, promoting a culture of scientific excellence in the medical field.

Brigadier General Dr. Shaikh Fahad bin Khalifa expressed pride in the researchers’ achievements, emphasising that scientific research remains central to medical progress and improved healthcare quality. He added that organising "Research Day 2025" continues the Services’ commitment to advancing research through its distinguished teams and continuous support for innovation and knowledge production, reinforcing the Kingdom of Bahrain’s position as a regional medical hub.

The event featured around 209 research studies completed between 2024 and August 2025. 14 were selected for oral presentation and 17 for electronic display based on their scientific value and contribution to the Services’ reputation in research and academic publishing.

The RMS Commander noted that the Crown Prince Centre ensures a comprehensive research environment where scientists can conduct studies in line with international standards, supported by the necessary facilities for applied experiments, biological samples, anatomical and surgical models, and laboratory animals, under strict safety and quality controls.

Research day featured a series of distinguished scientific lectures covering the latest topics across various specialties, with the participation of leading doctors and researchers from the RMS institutions. The presented studies reflected the diversity of the scientific content, including the national programme "BASSAL: Bahrain Stent Save a Life Programme" for developing cardiac catheterisation services, as well as studies on bio-scaffolds, artificial intelligence in medicine, machine learning, medical image analysis, and fathers’ experiences during childbirth.

Between 2022 and 2024, 317 studies were presented, with 262 published, highlighting researchers’ dedication to advancing medical knowledge.

The SCH Chairman, together with the Health Minister and RMS Commander, honoured the top researchers. Captain Dr Fares Noor Uddin won the award for Best Comprehensive Research, while Dr. Priya Das received the Best Interinstitutional Collaboration award. Other participants were recognised for their contributions to advancing scientific research.

The RMS reiterated its commitment to supporting researchers and innovators across all domains, advancing the Kingdom’s position as a regional centre for excellence, innovation, and knowledge.
