The Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF) announced the launch of a new e-learning programme on sustainable development, aimed at enhancing awareness of Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG) concepts and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) among public and private sector employees, university students, and interested learners.

The programme aligns with the Kingdom of Bahrain’s priorities in economic diversification and advancing the pathway towards carbon neutrality, contributing to the preparation of national talent for green-economy roles and supporting productivity across institutions and sectors.

It offers interactive content covering the fundamentals of sustainable development and current environmental, social, and economic issues, supported by local and international case studies, data visualisations, and standardised assessments, and is designed to equip national professionals with the knowledge tools needed to support a more sustainable and competitive economy.

The online curriculum highlights core sustainability principles and contemporary challenges, while showcasing successful practices from Bahrain, the region, and around the world. It includes expert-led video segments and discussion forums that encourage participants to share experiences and practical applications.

Bassam Kazerooni, Acting Head of the Banking Centre at BIBF, said the programme represents a practical step in supporting the Kingdom’s efforts to build a diversified and sustainable economy by strengthening workforce knowledge of sustainable development fundamentals and equipping participants with skills aligned with regional and global market requirements.

The programme is available through BIBF’s e-learning platform, offering flexible access, and includes pre- and post-assessments to measure learning impact, in addition to a downloadable toolkit with templates and practical guidance to support real-world application.
